Hello all,

I was looking for a thread about this but i couldn't find within 15 minutes of searching. If there is one sorry for double threading.

Back to topic, i guess you have noticed that when you got to Get more gadgets online it takes you to the Microsoft site offering only like 30 gadgets. I am looking for the rest of the gadgets that i have used in the paste but i can not find any link similar to the previous like Get more desktop gadgets nor any search for gadgets engine.

Do you know any workaround regarding this problem? Any new way of searching for desktop gadgets in Windows 7?

The old Microsoft Gadget gallery is gone.

The Windows Live Gallery has been retired. In order to focus support on the much richer set of opportunities available for the newest version of Windows, Microsoft is no longer supporting development or uploading of new Gadgets.

I think the "richer set of opportunities" they are referring to is Windows 8 Metro Apps and the Windows 8 App Store.

Fine by me. Hardly anyone developed useful windows gadgets anyway. Just like "add ons" for internet explorer.

OP, you'll need to search for other gadget repositories. I don't know of any off hand though, sorry.

OMG! I can't believe Microsoft offering updates for Windows XP but killing the gadgets gallery. Windows 8 will not be out for at least a full year. I can't believe this. There were gadgets that really made my life easier.

I will have to search for new repositories. One more question, do you know where does Windows keep already downloaded gadgets? Cause i have some of those still installed on my desktop computer but i am having had time finding them. It;'s not in the Downloads folder, has to be somewhere else in some system folder.

They do this always with "previous version" - they take away cool things about it that are downloadable.

C: \Users\<User Name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets

In this folder only the default system gadgets are placed but not the third party gadgets.

Okay, for all who are interested, i found the full Windows gadgets repository here:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Windows-Widgets/

All the widgets i needed and many many more can be found here and permanently downloaded. I guess Microsoft can kiss our a$$es now right?

Haha, true right? That's what happened to me. I was shocked. I couldn't believe what i am seeing. Just turned the computer off and slept the night hoping in the morning things would look better. But, with Steve Jobs gone, someone has to take his place pissing of tech loving people.
