Windows 7 File Names Broken In Folders

I've surfed around Google trying to find a solution and couldn't come up with anything...

Ever since Windows 7 came out I noticed this problem but never bothered with it till now, it's just driving me crazy.

I don't get it, but long file names appear broken when the file is in a folder, but if I place the file on the desktop it's not.

At first I noticed this in USB flash drives, thinking it had to do with FAT32, so I changed to NTFS, same probem, also on a USB drive, in a folder or not, the file names always appear broken too.

Here's a screen shot;

Anyone know how I can fix this so file names appear correct in a folder(s) like how it appears on the desktop in that screen shot?

THANKS

It has to do with the view settings. Some of the settings cause the file name to wrap due to the space limitations.

So no matter what view settings there's no fix for this?

Looks really lame when looking through folders, trying to read stuff... :(

Well sometimes you can't create a shorter name, it is what it is...

If that's not something broken then I don't know what is...

To me this deserves fixing, maybe in Window 8 there isn't this problem...

Sad to think there's nothing that can be done, it looks pathetic trying to read things... :(
