Windows 7 Explorer menu paste via right-click annoyance/question

Ever since I've used Vista, I've dealt with this annoying behavior of windows explorer.

I use detailed view in explorer. When I want to copy or move a file, and I use right-click to paste into the destination folder, I find that I need to stretch the window widely enough that I can get enough white space so I'm not selecting a file while pasting.

Does anyone have any advice for this? In XP it wasn't an issue since you could right-click anywhere, just not on the title of the file, and paste just fine, even if you were right-clicking on other column attributes of the files. I know an easy fix is to just CTRL + V always, but I like to use the mouse sometimes.

While I can't offer a "real" solution, here are 2 partial workarounds:

1. Right-click on the white space to the left of the file names, which is present regardless of the width of the window.

2. You can also drag files from one window to another (hold Control to copy instead of move), in which case the area below the file listing (the part that can display file properties) is a valid target. This is actually what I normally do.
