Windows 7 Drivers keep being disabled after restarts..

Anyone else have this problem? Just recently whenever I'd reboot my computer I'd find that my wireless and usb drivers were all disabled within the device manager (one time it was sound but now that works, along with the video driver).

At first I did a system restore which solved it (it was right before I installed itunes).

But now I realized if I go into the device manager, remove all the drivers and re-add them again, everything works perfectly.

Any suggestions?

Did you find anymore information or a fix for your problem? I'm considering installing Win 7 64 so I'm curious how this works out.

Chances are you'll be fine. It's not normal for 7 to disable devices unless the driver was in need of an update or some major incompatibility.

Anyone know of a solution? My wireless driver will always go out when I restart, along with my USB ports and sometimeiis my sound card. I have a Dell 1545 which has pretty modern equipment..

I have not noticed this problem on my X58 systems. However on my P55 system I cannot get my USB wireless card to work. It will either say could not install driver or installed but having issues. Might be related to the driver signing thing. I can run the same USB adapter on Win7 64bit on x58 just fine, just not on P55. If I recall correctly I cannot even run on vista on P55 system; not sure what the deal is.

Make sure you aren't relying on teh drivers that come with windows, even though it correctly detects your hardware. You should be downloading all new drivers for your hardware. I'm sure you all have done this, but you would be suprised how many people have problems and it was simply because they didn't bother downloading new chipset drivers, so i'm just making the comment.

I would test both sets of drivers. First test your hardware with the drivers that come with the system or are installed by default, determine if they work. Then upgrade your drivers (one device at a time) and test if the latest versions work. If the latest versions work, great, keep those. If not, rollback to the previous versions.

I have had a couple problems with drivers and Windows Update. If you have your system set to Automatically install updates that could be the source of some of your headaches. I recommend turning that off and running the updates manually so you can control what gets applied to your machine.

My two problems have been, first, my network connection works fine with the default installation (note: I haven't moved past Windows 7 x64 RC yet), but if I install the new driver that Windows Update wants me to install then it stops working. Second, in order to get my monitor to play full screen video (e.g. Hulu) without freezing up I had to download new drivers from AMD's website. When Windows Update runs it wants to replace those with older drivers which obviously brings back the freezing issue.

Doesn't look like there's any Win7 drivers for my laptop yet..right now I'm using the 64-bit Vista version.
