Windows 7 DPC Latency & HPET

Without HPET on my DPC Latency at idle hovers around in the single digit numbers. When I enable HPET in my bios, my DPC Latency Jumps to ~ 100's . What more is the system doing with HPET on that would cause the DPC Latency to rise?

Did you enable HPET on the OS level as well?

BTW, I do know some people have said that it causes micro stutter in games.

Haven't tried it yet.. just the bios option first. But why the increase in DPC with it on? What else is the system doing? With it off and the system at idle it usually hovers in the single digits to low teens.
