Strange how MS discs refuse to be recognized in such a popular DVD Drive!

I had to download a copy (full retail) and install with my retail (Upgrade) key. It worked!

Mine works just fine with Win 7. I'd been running the RC and just installed the released version in 64 bit and it's never given me a problem playing or recording.

BTW the FACTORY burned versions are the ones not working for me, I think it's an actualy disk read error, rather than a software read error?

Its funny that you bring this up as I just spent a frustrating night on Monday when my NEC 3550A (with the latest firmware) wouldn't read the Windows Home Premium 64 bit disk I finally got yesterday from Newegg after preordering it in July for the $50.00 sale. Its frustrating because my 3550A will read all my disk just fine so I thought the the upgrade disk was defective. To make a LONG story short, I went to Target and got an external USB DVD ROM drive. That drive would read the upgrade disk just fine and I was able to upgrade to Windows 7.

My old NEC 2500 works fine. Haven't got around to installing my new SATA dvd drive. It's a sony, but I hear it has NEC guts. I hope it works OK.
