Windows 7 - Disable auto maximize but not Shake?

Heyas,

I don't like the feature in Windows 7 where i drag a box near the top of the screen and it auto-maximizes for me. However I do like the Shake feature to minimize and unminimize windows though.

I found the way to disable the maximize in Ctrl Panel but it also disabled the Shake as well. Anyone know a way to turn off one without turning off the other?

That switch in ease of access turns off a single switch in the registry which disables Aerosnap which I believe is responsible for all these functions so I doubt you can do it. Have you tried turning it off and searching for some freeware that may provide the shake function. Must be something as I use wizmouse for scrolling none active windows which is a great little app which should be part of windows imo.

The snap only triggers if you touch the mouse to the top of the screen (ie the point touches pixel row zero). I personally just got in the habit of 'grabbing the window' near the bottom of the title bar. That way the title bar can go almost off the screen and it will snap back on screen but not maximize.

You must have something else set too as my title bar just goes off screen and then maximises anyway. Do you have a constrain on the windows so they are not allowed off screen as I need to set this too?

Cheers

Not that I am aware of. It is just set for default Aero.

I have IM windows that I drag from screen to screen to move out of the way. I always end up dragging them towards the top and then they maximize so I have to unmaximize them. Just gets annoying. heh.
