I was wondering if it's possible to dim the display on a desktop? I like how it's done on the notebooks, but I've looked all over the power settings and I don't think I can find one on the desktop pc.

Anyone have an idea?

You can control the Brightness of the Monitor in general, but I do not remember seeing software that can dim the monitor if not used after a period of time.

It is done in Laptops in order to save Battery Power.

In Desktop it does not serve any such purpose. In order to preserve the Screen, there is the Screen saver.

You can probably can make your own Screen saver that portrays a dim effect.
