Windows 7 - Can't delete directory I own

Hi,

I cannot for the life of me delete a folder that I own. Under the folder's security properties it lists my account as the owner. However whenever I try to delete it, all of the files in the folder tell me that I need permission from my account to delete them. WTF? I've tried using the "secret" administrator account, and making myself the owner. How do I get rid of this damn folder?!

Try doing it from safe mode, it worked for me several times.

Boot from a Linux boot disk and delete it from there.

It sounds like you own the folder, but not the individual files. Take ownership of the folder again, but this time check "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects". Then back out and head to the Permissions tab and recursively set your permissions by using "replace all child object permissions".

And you need permissions on the parent directory to add/delete files within it, so you need to check those rights as well.
