Windows 7 Boot error

I start my PC, the Dell splash screens shows up, and then a screen comes up that says

"boot error"

if I hit a key, then it changes to

"root error"


and it stops here. What's going on?

HDD curruption. Do a repair install.

fixed it turning it off for an hour and unplugging everything except keyboard and power.

dunno what was up but it works now

I had a similar problem when I went to reformat.. boot manager or something wasn't there. I had to reset cmos and start over.
