How do I uninstall it without having to reformat my hd , this is on a laptop.
I searched with no success,I googled this and it shows to reboot in safe mode as an admin and do a control panel/install-uninstall prgs ... is this a working solution ? I don't really want to format my hd on this laptop .

In general you can not Uninstall an OS like an application.

Is it the only OS on the HD?

If yes what are you going to install instead?

boot your win 7 cd just like your are doing an install, when you get to the area where you choose where to install windows just delete the partition and cancel the install.

Jackmds , yes it's the only os on the hd , I will reinstall either xp or vista,I have both . The laptop shipped with xp.

When you install the new OS and you choose the current partition to Install the OS in, it would reformat the the current partition before the Install

So Backup your data Start the new OS CD/DVD and follow the process on screen.
