Anyone have this problem?

I pop the DVD in, it boots, it loads some files, then it says "starting windows", plays an animation, the first mouse pointer comes up , and then it just stops doing anything.

I have burned the DVD 2 times and I would guess its not the media.

I have an amd based system with 780G chipset, sata everything. Anyone else run into this and can help me out? Been using the 64-bit one if it matters.

How long are you waiting?
Might depend on how fast your machine is.

I installed it last night, it was faster install than Vista.
Only driver I really needed to update was my wireless card.

I am having the same problem with the 32 bit version.

to me it sounds like its hanging trying to initialize graphics, but thats a VERY ROUGH guess...

You trying a new install on a formatted HD?

i'm assuming my system is plenty fast.

its a phenom 9150e, 4gb of ddr2-800 (which is not broken or overclocked) , and i was installing it on a fresh 40gb drive that I have laying around just for trying OSes. I also tried it on a 1.5 TB seagate and that didnt work either. I am using a radeon 3650 ... which I dont think woudl be the problem.

I mean the dvdrom obviously boots and seems to work for a while, so I don't think its that, so I am not sure whats going on. I guess googer has the same problem, so maybe the beta installer is not perfect.

Anyhow I guess I'll give up on that for a bit. To the guy who posted the USB way of doing it, thanks for the link, maybe i'll try it on my msi wind... (dont have a cdrom)

I'm having a similar problem, but hanging isnt' the issue. After the last reboot during install, the screen goes blank and I lose video input. THe monitor goes into standby and I'm screwed. Many people having this problem, if you visit the Win 7 forums. I'm going to try a few things today, we'll see what happens. Anyone here experienceing this?

If you have any additional SATA controllers besides your chipset's controller, disable it for the install. On my GA-P35-DS3R, I have a JMicron JMB363 for IDE + additional SATA ports, and W7 did not like it during the install process at all. Once it was installed, I could re-enable the controller and install drivers for it.

No additonal SATA ports here...however I am installing the W7 on an IDE drive, while my WinXP is on a SATA drive. Maybe mess with that a bit...

Did that on my one pc also.
So the last time i tried, i just let it sit there like that, and after about 10min or so of sitting there apparently doing nothing it continued setup.

How long did you wait b4 you gave up?

I waited more than 10 minutes... I went to eat dinner and came back and it was still sitting there.

Installing USB is great for two primary reasons. First you dont have to waste a dvd for something like a beta. Second it not only copies over faster to the usb drive it also installs faster. Given you have a decent usb stick.

You should really try it, but first maybe check the hash of the iso to make sure you didnt have an error in downloading. Then try it on usb, should work if iso is valid.

I had this same problem where Windows 7 64-bit (RTM) unpacks the files correctly, but hangs at the blue screen: ( http://img297.imageshack.us/im...3697/backgroundcli.jpg )

If I waited long enough, the EULA eventually does come up, but the setup as a whole just takes way too long. This was an issue that needed to be fixed, because it installed on my laptop just fine.

After trying many different bios options, I ended up Disabling my JMicron JMB363 controller. The DVD drive that I was using for the install was actually using the port.

For those of you still having trouble, make sure you DISABLE the JMicron JMB363 controller in your bios. Simplying having devices unplugged is not good enough.

System:
ASUS P5W DH Deluxe
QX6700
8 GB PC2-6400 Corsair Dominator
ASUS Lightscribe DVD+RW

I'm installing 7 to the ASUS EZ-backup RAID with two WD 10K Raptors.

Anyone else have any experience with this? It's driving me crazy.

I'm having some of the same issues Synbios describes.

- When booting from CD, takes about 15 minutes before you can choose English as the language.
- Hangs for about 30 minutes at "Setup is starting ... " screen before the EULA license comes up.
- It goes through setup, and when it reboots, it just hangs on the Starting Windows screen.

I have my JMicron controller disabled, all the USB devices pulled out, and only two drives, a Samsung 750GB and a Seagate 1.5TB. I'm trying to install Win 7 to the Samsung.

Anyone with any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance

I also had trouble w/ this. You can try what Synbios says. Or just wait a little longer. Seems it will come up..... eventually. I let it hang on that exact aqua blue screen for 2 times previously but gave it 15 min on the 3rd and it came up. Then I also hung on "system configuration" or something like that where the little donut spins.....For that, I ejected the disc, popped it back in and it restarted the process. . Hope that helps anyone. I've been at this for 2 hours tonight and the beta worked fine for all of my systems previously...

well as the original poster of this thread, the RTM installs fine on the same system i had the issue with on beta 1.
