Windows 7 and multiple video cards

Windows can be very strange about multiple video card drivers and I was curious if Windows 7 was any better. I know in XP 32bit you can run ATi and NVidia drivers at the same time, XP 64bit you can't and any version of Vista you can't. Does anyone know if Windows 7 will allow me to run my NVidia and ATi card in the same machine? I have 3 display setup and need a 2nd card to display TV shows or Movies while my main card is running in 3d mode.

I'm in the same situation, running both types in xp.

How about waiting for the ATI HD 5850? It's coming out in a few weeks, and apparently supports 3 monitors simultaneously.

Yes, it will work in Windows 7. Unfortunately, I know very few details beyond that though.

Isura, I hope the hype around the 5800s are accurate. It sounds like a great new line of cards.

Well the problem is that, atleast in previous versions of windows you could not have one screen running in 3d mode, playing a game or whatever and have a video playing on the other screen. The movie would go black until the game was either minimized or closed. With 2 video cards one is in 3d mode and the other is in 2d mode for movies. So in my situation I need 2 video cards, unless the 5xxx series is special or windows 7 gets around this. Also I'll be adding a 4th display which again makes the 5xxx series not a possible solution, I'll still have to mix cards.

Either way good news that I will be able to mix manufacturers. I would like to buy a 5850 for gaming and keep my passively cooled 7600gt for videos.
