Two weeks ago, I did an auto update on the RC version and got the nice volume knob and everything working on my task bar. When I did a clean install and put in the retail version, the auto update tells me there is an Active X problem and does not pick up my Xfi Extreme Gamer, but it does find my Creative web cam and udates those drivers and programs.

I did the manual update, and got the newest drivers for my 64bit version of Win 7, but it doe not give me the volume control. In order to change my mode, I have to open the control panel. Do I need to install a different driver from them, 6.0.1.1373 is the driver listed in the control panel.

Does anyone have any ideas other than using the Daniel K drivers? Thanks

I have read recently that the latest xfi drivers are buggy.

I have been using them on my xp machine and it causes system hangs on shutdown.

I would try a complete uninstall of all creative software and drivers.. reboot.. then do a full install from the cd.

Creative software seems to always be buggy anyways..

I agree with them being buggy. I did install them and uninstall them with no change. Its a shame they were working perfectly with the RC version. I went through this when I upgraded Vista to 64 bit. I had the same symptoms, and it finally got fixed when I updated last. I would have thought they would have had them ready for Win 7, but I will cut them a little slack until Oct 22, the official launch day. But after that, all bets are off. I just want my volume control.

Creative drivers are hit or miss with Vista and Win7,latest Audigy 4 ones I installed on Vista x64 had no sound so I did a rollback to the previous ones.

Win7 x64 Ultimate RTM I'm just using the default ones(so Windows default volume icon),since Creative only have beta ones available and I'm not in the mood to beta test their drivers.

Just an update, I went back to basics and stuck the disk in. Win 7 is have a heck of the time with the installer. I locked up the computer about 6 or 7 times trying to get everything installed. I had to us compatibility mode to get it to install, and it still got stuck trying to exit out. I got it working with the volume panel, and using the current drivers.
