Anybody had similar problems ?

Last week i had windows update do some updating and ever since, sometimes my explorer will not come up for 5 to 10 seconds.
It might resolve itself later on after new updates, i hope.

How can i see my update log about the updates that have been done ?

I have had similar issues after windows updates. Computers became very slow to respond. My issue was a memory leak on the windows update service. I disabled the update service and the computers started to respond normally. This happened on about 50ish computers (out of 1000).

I had another update and the slow down is gone. The last update was a driver update for my prolific usb to uart adapter and a defintion update for windows defender. I also had a windows defender update prior to the slow down. That was around 20 October and the following update was 24 of October.

I have no idea what really happened. I had some security updates and i think the program that checks for malicious software was running. My pc is as responsive as it always was since i installed an ssd.

I also have updated my nod32 eset security software and it showed a possible update from window7 to windows home 10.
But since i have no need yet for window 10, i will wait for a while...

The easiest way to see the update logs is through: Control Panel > Windows Update > View update history. This is on Windows 8.1 but I think the same goes for Windows 7.

I checked the logs. I had some system updates and windows defender updates.

Well, i still experienced some slow downs in explorer and when wanting to open files and i think i finally found it. I previous had ESET nod32 smart security 8. And around the same time i received na upgrade to ESET nod32 smart security 9. During the installation, i remember windows mentioned that i no longer had any virus scanner. I thought that was normal since i was updating my virus scanner and the old version had to be uninstalled. Recently , i got a message from windows defender that my pc needs scanning. I checked and as it turns out, windows defender was enabled. Long ago when installing the old smart security 8, windows defender was disabled by nod 32 smart security. I do not know why it did not happen this time. And i think that W7 automatically enables windows defender when there is not any virusscanner present.

I had two virus scanners running doing realtime file protection. Now i have disabled windows defender and now i have to see if that was the solution. of course, NOD32 smart security 9 is running as usual.
