windows 64bit problem

My friend hav XP 64bit and claims that certain driver are in 32bit only and they are not backward compatible. So is there a patch for it? or any drive update for it?
 
Microsoft have helped write about 20,000 64-bit compliant drivers for WinXP 64. If the drivers you need aren't on that list, you're out of luck for the time being until hardware manufacturers catch up.
