Windows 32 or 64?

Why not both? Like I always say two Os's are better then none..

Oh for your sister, dont do it then man, sell the other copy...

TV tuner card drivers are almost non existent. Many other devices are in beta. You should be safe if you only have an nvidia or ATI add in cards and a nforce 4 motherboard. 16bit programs will not run (or ones with 16bit code, like mIRC). Many applications (such as Daemon tools, alcohol 120%, etc.) wont work. Many antivirus products do not work (see my sig).

I live in the hell of the 64bit world.

To tack on your thread....

If I have the x64 version of Windows XP can I use existing non-x64 drivers or must I use the new drivers? I'm building a bleeding edge system and want to know if x64 XP Pro is backwards-compatible with the older drivers, etc?

Or better yet.. Is MS really trying to market it to consumers or speciality markets?

32 bit definately. Considering its for your sister. Hell even i wouldnt bother with 64 bit yet and im pretty good with techy stuff, cant imagine your sister having much fun when office or a game dosent run or w/e other problems there might be with 64 that are absent in 32.

I think you should also just stick with 32 bit. Since its bleeding edge itll be able to run vista fine when it comes out. XP64 is simply here because there are 64 bit processors and MS felt the need to have a 64 bit OS. Vista will be the proper 64 bit OS everyones waiting for, when that comes out XP64 will be forgotten.

Apparently things run better on 32 bit atm anyways, games included unless theyre coded for 64 bit.
