Windows 2k startup

I just installed Win2k on my newly built machine, but the windows loading screen takes about 4-5 minutes to load everytime I boot up. The first half is done instantaneously but then the bar just sits for about five minutes before finally finishing up and loading into windows. I have a DVD drive, a cd burner, and a zip drive installed but I haven't installed any pci devices yet besides my ethernet card. What could be causing this slowdown? Thanks

My Machine:
Tbird 1.4
abit kg7-RAID
256 mb crucial ddr ram
MSI Geforce 2 Pro
inwin q500 tower:disgust:

I believe its caused by having the NIC card set to DHCP..it finds an IP address while its booting up, causing the slowness.

Is your card set to DHCP?

Yes it is - but other people here are running win2k with the same settings. Actually I think the slowdown occured even before I put in the ethernet card. Thanks.

what a sucky problem. maybe you should try a selective startup....

push F8 as if you were going to Safe Mode, and choose selective startup.
