windows 2k refuses to load wants <windows 2000 root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe file reinstalled sais it is missing or corrupt.
well that is not hard in win98 but win2k has not left me a Dos flopy nor can I access it from win98 cause it is an NTFS partition nor can I find such a file on the Win2k advanced server pro (win2k ASP) CD.
I can only assume that the file is missing somplace inside of win98 cause I installed win2k ASP from there. any help here?

well i don't know what the problem is exactly...but we had the same problem when we had win NT installed in the labs and we had portable hd's with win2k in them and we tried to boot the win2k.

However when we tried just doing a mock installation of win2k on the win NT like we had it do some pre-installation stuff, it fixed the error. (We then cancelled the installation)

Also the error only happend to random machines...so...mmm...yeah i've got no idea exactly how to fix it? Have you tried reinstalling win2k? See if that works...good luck! =)

It worked fine for several months. one day it gave theose messages. I did backup the system with norton Ghost and restored the backup of the system when it worked fine. The result is the same it has the same gripe no change at all. So it must be someting inside of win98 I can only assume. since the backup has everything working fine in it and is an image of the partition.

Thank u for your suggestions...
