Windows 2K migration questions . . .

1. Just bought an SB Live to go with my KT133A since Aureal is out . . . do I need LiveWare 3 and the drivers? Or just the drivers?

2. Of the Via 4-in-1s, it seems to be recommended to not install the BM drivers, and to use the Microsoft Windows 2000 ATA100 patch for the default VIA IDE drivers on the CD. I don't have an ATA100 drive, but my hard drive IS on the ATA100 controller - what should I do?

3. My Xerox laser printer doesn't have Win2k drivers - will NT 3.51 drivers work? Is there any way of finding out if my printer is supported by Windows 2000 in default? (It is in Windows 98SE).

4. Convert to NTFS or stay FAT32? I'm not dual-booting.

Stick with just the drivers. You don't need Live!Ware, and I personally don't recommend it. If you install Live!Ware, I'd recommend that you disable all startup functions - they can be a pain.

Install the latest 4.28's, without the IDE BusMaster drivers. You shouldn't need he ATA-100 patch but it wouldn't hurt a thing.

Try NT 4 drivers if they are available. If that doesn't work you might want to try 98 drivers, but I can't guarantee that either will work. NT drivers have sometimes been known to work with 2000.

NTFS. Better security and management of higher capacity drives.

If you only install the drivers you wont be able to enable the rear channels.

If you do install live ware do as "geekish thoughts" said,Dont let anything load at start up.
