Windows 2k, and the Plextor 12/10/32 ide cd-rw drive

I have dma enabled, but still, when I burn any cd, I cannot do anything else other than burn the cd itself. If I try to surf or look at something already open, it will lag and lag and lag the other program. I know it has something to do with dma, and i enabled it on the primary ide, and the secondary ide, and restarted. If any of you have any info on how to fix this problem, then please let me know, thanks!


Also I have a A7V and a Duron 600.
 
You should have DMA disabled on the cd writer, but enabled on the hard drive(s). What cd burning software are you using? Also, if you have a sound card in the system, what kind is it? If it's an Aureal (Diamond MX300 fits in this category), that's probably your problem.... their drivers for Win2k cause massive amounts of problems.
