Windows 2k and registry problems

I recently built a computer with the following:

MSI kt7 MB 200/266 FSB
Athlong 1.4Ghz Thunderbird with 266 FSB
512 MB PC133 ram
30Gb Western Digital 7200RPM hard drive
Windows 2K

Everything runs great, while the system is running. The problems come when shutting down or restarting.
Sometimes, when restarting I get error messages that the HIVE CANNOT BE MOUNTED. The ONLY resolution
is to reload windows fresh. I have heard rumors that the problem is the computer is shutting down "to fast"
and the information is getting written correctly to disk. The problem disappears when Win98 is placed onto
the same computer...

Any suggestions????

Oh yeah, you should make an ERD so you can reload a working registry when it happens.
