Windows 2008 as a Secondary Domain Controller to Win 2003 Primary Domain Controller

Is it possible to dcpromo windows 2008 to a backup domain controller for an existing PDC that is running Windows 2003?

 
What is the functional level of the domain, 2000 or 2003?

If it's 2003 there is no PDC, as it was only kept as a PDC emulator role in 2000 to support NT4 domain controllers.

You can have as many DC as you want, they will only function at whatever level the domain is.
