Windows 2003 Webserver Edition allows for 2 cpu's and 2GB of ram. Does anybody know if this would allow 2 dual core cpu's?

All Microsoft software counts physical CPU sockets for licensing purposes. Mutli-core CPUs are always counted as a single CPU.

i understand that from a licensing perspective, but im wondering if the OS is hardcoded to be limited to two cores..

I don't believe so. It's limited to two physical CPUs, regardless of the number of cores.

I have it running on a dual - dual core system. No complaints from the OS.
