when i had created a web site on the server and installed iis. i made a virtual directory to let people download files. file extensions such as txt, exe, zip jpg. work .iso .reg and few others dont why is that..

IIS 6.0 does not serve unknown MIME types

You should just set up an ftp site for that. ftp can be done through IIS just like web sites.
