I was having problems with my system being unstable as of late so I decided to a reformat. I had a copy of Windows 2003 (got it from taking a Win2003 MCSA class) so I installed that. Well, my system is slightly more stable, but I still get the random crashes out of no where. They seem to change all the time from irq not less then or equal, to non page fault in non paged error, to.. okay I get them all pretty much. Even the win32k.sys errors with nothing installed.

Under Event Viewer I'm getting tons of two specifics warnings and errors.

The warning is:

Details
Product: Windows Operating System
ID: 106
Source: WMIxWDM
Version: 5.2
Symbolic Name: MCA_WARNING_UNKNOWN_NO_CPU
Message: Machine Check Event reported is a corrected error.

The error is:

Details
Product: Windows Operating System
ID: 107
Source: WMIxWDM
Version: 5.2
Symbolic Name: MCA_ERROR_UNKNOWN_NO_CPU
Message: Machine Check Event reported is a fatal error.

My system is about two years old and has a Pentium 4 1.8A Northwood that I've been running at 2.4, it's been working fine until recently. Even when it's clocked to normal speeds I'm still getting these warnings and errors.

Well, my first reaction is time to replace my CPU, but I was wondering could it possibly be a bad power supply giving me this problem (I've been used the power supply that came with my case)? I just wanted some opinions before I go off buying stuff.

I'd agree with your gut reaction, sounds to me like there's a possibility of the CPU cache having gone bad. You could try checking your bios options to see if there's any options that allow you to disable on chip cache or to turn ecc checking on.

The fault may also be bad RAM but it's going to be difficult to isolate. If you have more than one stick try running diags on one module at a time

hope this helps
