My dad changed his admin account to different name and added password, and added password on regular account with admin priveledges.
Then when he rebooted, he can not change user account, but it defaults to his name, and when he enters password, it hangs.

Any clues how to get access back???
He says this is all he did, and he is sure he typed password right ruling that out.

wow...looks litke your stuck. I have a boot cd that I've used to override passwords before but I forget where I got it from, (and from what i've told its not quite legit to have)

It isn't illegal to boot form an alternate OS to replace or modify the password SAM file as long as you are not breaking into an authorized system 🙂 This does not involve any "cracking" or reverse engineering of any Microsoft propriety code.

Emergency Boot CD

is a bootable linux CD which allows you to modify the admin password file.
