Windows 2000 weird glitch

I've been running Win2k pro for about 9 months on a new build I did (Dual P4 2.4ghz, gig of ecc ram, a couple WD 80 gig drives, Radeon 7500) anyway, it's been rock solid the entire time.. Most consistant I've ever been probably. Until recently...

Seemingly out of nowhere, Photoshop (6.0) and wordpad won't work.

Last known change, upgraded Norton systemworks from 2002 to 2003 version - that was a few days ago, no ill effects.??

Everything seemed great until this morning, photoshop hangs and must be closed (Dr. Watson says Exception number: c0000005 (access violation) on it) and with wordpad it will open, but literally for no longer than 30 seconds even if it's just sitting there. Again, error message about having to be closed, and a little more of the Dr. Watson dump below (for hopefully someone smarter than me to "get")..

Anyway, uninstalled photoshop, norton, every hotfix I had done that I could access and made no difference. I've done scandisk, defrag, expanding wordpad from the 2000 cd and overwriting the existing.. No soap.

Tried redoing the windows updates and such but no fix was in it.

I've searched literally every place I could think of to look and nada. There's a lot of smart folks here.. does any of this make more sense to any of you?

I don't know if Systemworks has ever NOT trashed a system it was installed on sooner or later. That program makes so many changes. I formatted and reinstalled long ago and haven't touched it again. That was systemworks 2002 and lower though.

No idea what could cause this. Try searching symantec, although its probably hopeless. Luck. I gave up working on that POS and I refuse to deal with it.

I would have to agree, most Symantec and Norton products pretty much fubar your system. I always do an image backup or system restore point whenever installing/upgrading something new, especially the aformentioned products.
