</EM>This only works for Windows Xp...not Windows 2k;...or any other Windows OS for that matter,

Oops, you are correct, I forgot it wasn't included in 2k.

I generally use uptime.exe from Microsoft since it does a decent job.

Even though Win 2K doesnt come with systeminfo you can run it from an XP box with the /s switch to pull the uptime (and other info) from a 2k box. I would imagine that you could also copy systeminfo from an XP box to your Win 2K box and it would work (although have never tried it before).

Run 'systeminfo'.
BILL

he he
how many of us started typing before finishing the thread ?
i noticed running it from the "RUN" line let the window close by itself. doing it from the command prompt left it open .
thanks for the command i've been trying to remember it on and off for a week now.

oh yea, a little off-topic, but does anyone know why there are two graphs on that cpu usage? what does the red/green lines mean and how are they different.

So let me get this straight, you are running Windows 2000 Server as a desktop OS (note the game shortcuts on the desktop) and you hadnt applied any patches for the past year but you dont even know what taskmgr means? Once more you havent even applied the RPC patch (you just have it downloaded so you can install it if you think it gets affected).

You see 2 CPU graphs because there are 2 CPUs (either physical or logical) and the red is kernel times.

I think it's time you start running Win XP Pro. and set it to automatically install updates.

Well, he could just be using it as a dedicated CS/BF1942/etc server, but not patching it is...bad.

Star Wars Jedi Knight, Acrobat Reader, Half Life, Gamespy Arcade, Roxio Easy CD Creater?

Not even a dedicated gaming server should be running these, and leaving it unpatched is just asking for trouble if you are using it as a desktop with it connected to the internet.
