(update)

Well, I found out it wasn't Windows 98. I reinstalled Windows 98 and same problem (I deleted the windows and program files folders before reinstalling).

Could that one file be damaged? Anyone want to e-mail it to me.

As for a fresh install from DOS, I've got the upgrade version of Windows 2000 that wants my Windows 98 CD. Well, I don't have that anymore either... (I thought of that first, but it won't take my copy of Windows 98 from my hard drive for some reason... Does anyone know how to get it to do that?

(end of update)

Ok, I'm trying to upgrade to Windows 2000 and I'm having a problem.

I get an error message when I try to run setup:

"The option to upgrade will not be available at this time because setup was unable to load the file C:\WIN2000\I386\WIN9XUPG\W95UPG.DLL

A Device attached to the system is not functioning."

If I click on ok to that error box, I get an error that Winnt32 has performed an illegal opperation and will be shut down. (actually it performs an invalid page fault in module W95UPG.DLL if I click on details)

Is my copy of Windows 2000 damaged? Do I have a damaged copy of Windows 98SE installed?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jason

Looks like your Win98SE is jacked up. Why not make life easy - reformat your hhd and install Win2k that way

Wanna!!! I don't wanna... :)

I just reinstalled Windows 98 like two months ago, I am SICK of reinstalling Windows... (sigh)

This is one of the reasons to go to Windows 2000, I'm hoping I have to reinstall less.

I might have to do a clean install of Windows, but I REALLY don't want to. :(
