Hey, how do you stop something from running on boot up with windows 2000? I remember msconfig from windows 98 but they removed that program :(. How did they replace it and how do i access it?

It's called Startup Control Panel and you can get it off of CNET's site here. After you install it, go to the Control Panel and you'll see an icon that says Startup. It's a great utility for NT/2000.

If you can get Msconfig off a Windows XP system, it works just fine with Windows 2000.

If the application is installed as a service you could always disable the service or set it so it only starts manually too.

Cheers to Iron Woode and Spade - I've downloaded that utility - looks pretty useful!

There's another neat little program called Startup Cop that gives you several levels of control over what loads at startup.
