I need some help, if anyone has tips on how to remedy this situation:

-I have a Xitel Storm Platinum sound card(Aureal Vortex 2 chipset) that I am trying to make work in Windows 2000

-The first time I installed Win2k on my machine, my sound worked just fine. Windows 2000 comes natively with WDM drivers for Vortex 2 cards, and these were the ones I used.

-The last two times I've installed Windows 2000 on the exact same PC, there has been no sound coming from the sound card. The sound still works perfectly in Windows 98/Me. But not in 2000.

-I have tried the native Win2k drivers, as well as Aureal reference drivers and the Win9x and WinNT drivers on my sound card's driver CD.

Has anyone else around here experienced similar difficulties getting a Vortex 2 card to work in Windows 2000? I would really appreciate any tips you can offer.

If device manager shows it to be installed, have you checked volume settings?

Those are the drivers I'm using...I've tried every Vortex driver I can find and none of them will work.

Maybe I'll have better luck with Windows XP RC1 when I get that in the next couple weeks...
