I just reformatted a friends computer and loaded windows 2000 professional back onto his computer but the color only shows 16-bit.. what can i do to get that to go to 256-bit or high color 16 bit and to be able to make the screen larger to make it 1024x768 instead of 800x600.

i need to find out what video card he has and i have tried running direct x and all it says is VGA with nothing else there. i tried to install some nvidia drivers but that didnt seem to work.

thanks for your help

You need to install the video driver for sure to get the better resolution. Why don't you open up the computer and take a look at what the chipset is on that video card. If it is an onboard video, then what is the chipset on that motherboard. There are also tools you can download to identify your video card. I don't know a site off the top of my head though.
