Windows 2000 Server Processor Limit

Is there a way to remove the processor limit from windows 2000 server?

at the behest of our IT guy, we bought an 8-core server; but he "forgot" that we need at the least 2000 advanced server to utilize all 8 cores.

I was wondering if there are any registry tweaks/hacks to get 2000 server to utilize the other 4 cores (and maybe if there is something similar for sql server 2000 std)

on the other hand, if there isn't, i guess i have 1 quad core 1.6ghz xeon to sell at some point.

haha -- ok thanks for those insightful comments

was considering buying advanced server from the beginning -- but then I have to reformat and i dont think the time involved will be worth it-- plus dont know if terminal services will see any improvement anyway with the 4 extra cores

and i'd have to invest another $15k in getting sql server enterprise (since std only supports 4 cores as well)

looks like i'll be selling the other quad core processor then

Install Server 2003, it's smart enough to tell the difference between physical and logical cores and you'll be able to use an unlimited number of logical cores.
