Windows 2000 Server login script won't run

I'm a bit of a novice at Windows DNS and Active Directories, so bear with me please . When I got the machine to begin with it already had a working Win2k server installation so I didn't need to deal with setting it up, but now I have to due to a nasty virus infection.

Ok back to my problem. For some reason it refuses to run my login script that I'd been using with the previous installation. The script has some simple NET USE commands and worked flawlessly in my last install. When I create a user, the properties of that user specifically say Login script: \\%SERVERNAME%\Scripts\login.bat. The Scripts directory is shared, and after I log into a computer I can navigate through the network and run the script manually and it works fine.

Am I doing anything wrong? Everything else (group policies, etc) are all default for the time being.

How are you applying your gpo ? Via AD / Normal Workstation script etc

Does a GPO have to be applied? There is a default domain policy on the domain, which I thought was applied automatically. More or less all I've done thus far is configure AD, set up a few test user accounts, and connect a few computers to the domain.

AFAIK, They have to be placed in the NETLOGON shared folder for them to work or something like that.

so when you type "login.bat" in their profile in the Logon Script space, it automatically looks there.
