this is the problem

i have a folder named MAIN and currently is being shared
by a few computers.

well i can't some of the files on that folder because it says that
i don't access/permission to them. through any of the computers

or even the SERVER with the administrative account.

the files were copied from a CD and the attribute changed from read only
to archive.

help, how can i access these files, how do i get permission, or how
do i reset that whole shared folder?

the files are on the SERVER machine, and like i said i can't access
them on the server machine either with administrative account, which
is the account i do all the work with.

another question while i'm here, in an exchange server, how do i make one email
account receive the emails in a public folders, meaning when i check mail in outlook
i want the received mail to go to an inbox in PUBLIC FOLDERS, not in my personal
PST file. can this be done?

reason: its a general office email, and i would like everyone to access that email folder.

thanks
darvin

Regarding the Windows 2000 file acccess:

1.) You were able to access these files in the past?

2.) Are you the Administrator of the Server? If so, I guess you did not intially set it all up?

3.) Change the Ownership on the file, by Right clicking on the folder --> Properties --> Security --> Advanced --> Ownership and add the Administrators if it is not already there.

4.) Add the Administrators group to the Permissions section, probably full access.

5.) What are the permissions in there currently?

6.) Ok that is the File System Permissions, now lets check the Sharing Permissions. Right click on the folder --> Properties --> Sharing --> Permissions -->Add the Administrators group in there and the others that need access.

Hope this helps!

P.S. Not sure about the Exchange problem.

if you still can't add yourself to the permissions, goto the folder the files are in and check to see if you have rights on the folder and tell it to add the permissions to all the files and folders...i think you have to check the all files or all folders part. you can also try taking over ownership of the files and reassigning the permissions through the local admin account.
