Windows 2000 screensaver password

I have been trying to set up a password for the screensaver but it won't work. Everytime I go to Display properties, I check the password protect box, let the screensaver run but it doesn't ask for a password when it's running, it just goes back to the desktop. I am an administrator with my own account and logon password. Is there something I am missing?

It's more secure in 2K to use the standby password as obenton suggested or to use ctrl+alt+del>Lock Computer if you know you're going to be away from your computer. Screensaver passwords aren't exactly secure and if you're going to use 2K, you might as well use what it provides...

by letting the screen saver run, do you mean your clicking test or, waiting for the timer?

If it auto logs in to the acct on boot, then i think the Password is disabled, but if your clicking test, test won't ask for the pass word, i've tried myself. either way.

QUESTION!!! How'd you fix your problem? It used to work for me, but all of a sudden, the password prompt won't show up anymore. I'll go check out the other options now...
