I've heard a little about Windows 2000 having software Raid support. An article on Tom's site goes so far as to say only Windows 2000 machines can use RAID without a special controller, but in context the author seems to be talking about motherboards in general and not special products like Abit's RAID-equipped mobos. The reason I'm asking is I'm thinking of getting a Microstar K7T PRO 2A, and I've also been considering going with Win2K for stability purposes. (I play few games and only occasionally.) If I can run this setup of the MS board and still get good RAID support through W2K it seems like the perfect solution.

W2K, as well as NT 4.0, has software RAID capabilities.

You can use the built in software RAID on vitually any group of hard drives, no matter what type or interface. There are some limitations, but it is not dependant on the motherboard.
