Windows 2000 question.

Lifer
Im actually posting this for a friend, because I dont run 2000. However, Im interested in helping him solve this because he isnt very computer literate.

When he boots up 2k, his my documents folder opens up automatically. Ive tried to have him remove it.
Hes tried:

1) regrun
2) msconfig
3) renaming the folder
4) looking at system policies
5) tweak UI

All to no avail, can anyone solve this query?

Windows usually tends to remember the windows that were open while it was being shutdown and tries to open them up again on the next startup. Try closing the "My Documents" folder then shutting down and restarting and see if it stops opening..Regards

I have seen this myself, it is a key in the "RUN" area of the regostry that is empty for some reason.

Check under LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/CURRENT VERSION/RUN

See if there is a key that has no data in it, we had this issue with a few NT boxes and one or two 2k machines.
It ended up being a piece of software people were installing that caused the issue, though i cannot remember which title it was.
