I have a win 2000 comp when I turn it on it pops up with adding a new hardware wizard but all the hardware is working properly how do I stop it from popping up. Also when I shut off my comp it says "it is now safe to turn off your computer" well I want to disable that and want to turn off by them self?s. Not have that screen there.

Have you tried updating the driver(s) for the hardware that keep popping up?

Also, I believe there is an option under Power Options (Control Panel --> Power) that lets you enable Advanced Power Management (APM), which in turn, should make the system turn off automatically.
