I encounter problems on systems at the company I work for that often get fixed by "recreating" a user's profile. The desktop systems are all running Windows 2000.
Some of our systems, even new systems that are only a few months old, seem to get sluggish when loading the desktop. The login batch file takes minutes to run, the items on the task bar take awhile to load, the virus scan software takes a while to load. This happens with annoying frequency.
The fix? Re-name the customer's profile and have them log in again to create a new profile. BAM, works 9 times out of 10. The whole process of the desktop gets loaded in seconds, instead of minutes.
I'm glad I have a fix, but I don't understand the fix. Any links, sites, ideas on what the heck gets gunked up in a users profile that causes this problem?
Thanks in advance....
