Everytime i try to defragment my hard drive in Windows 2000 Professional it would start and about 1/3 through, it would freeze my whole computer, no HD activity, mouse, keyboard doesn't work and everything stops, does anyone know why?

make sure you are not running anything else when you are defragging. Close everything etc.

Well, everything else is closed, and i figured out that it freezes right after it finishes analyzing the drive, but i can partition my other hard drives without any problems, but only my c: which i'm having problems with is NTFS the other hard drives are Fat32, and i also scanned for bad sectors...stumped...

Try running check disk before you defrag again. This will have to be done at bootup as Win2k locks system files. Open up a command line and use the chkdsk /f/r and answer yes to performing this operation at reboot. This will allow Win2k to fix and repair any bad sectors...you should then be able to finsih the defrag.
