Windows 2000 Professional - ? faster cable modem dls?

I appear to be getting about 50% better performance out of my cable modem connection ... about 120 - 135 kb/s consistently. Also, the clients (WIN98SE PCs) on the shared connection seem to be faster.

Anyone else experience this?

Could be that the fresh install of Win2k Pro straightened out a bunch of registry settings that had been diddled over the last several months (in a never ending quest for more speed you know!)

I think that I am going to like Win2k Pro ... seems faster and more stable than 98SE ... but I'm not a gamer ... kids are, but they need to spend more time outside and on homework anyway.

Win2k has an improved tcp/ip stack so d/l's are much quicker. My pings are also much more stable than before.
Just about every newer game i've played works under win2k ie:
nfs3,4,5
glquake,q2,q3
half-life
age of empires,aoe2
mdk2

Anyway check out the software intelli...
