I am operating on Windows 2000 Pro - Clean install

For some weird reason, the windows 2000 Disk-clean-up stop responding as soon as I specify which drive to be cleaned.

there is a window pop-up stating: "Disk Clean-up is calculating how much space you will be able to free up.....calculating"
and there is also a "progress bar" below it, BUT it stuck at about 20% (4 progress bars).

I can actually "Cancel" and go about my own business.

Can anyone tell me what's wrong with this? Any help WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Thanks a lot

I have the same issue using NTFS file system. It usually takes forever trying to calculate all the compressed files I guess.

I think you are probably right. This is really an NTFS thing, bec. my buddy's system with FAT32 (Windows 2000) doesn't have any problem.

Thanks Thor86.

The same thing happened to me and what I found works, is to restart your machine and boot into safe mode, (F8) and run it from there. It still takes a couple of minutes, but not nearly as long as the normal way.

Same with disc defrag, virus scans and so on.
