Windows 2000 & nFORCE2 Driver problems ?!?

Hi ,

I just bought an EPoX 8RDA+ from ebay .I installed Windows 2000 Pro and I have an athlon 2400+ in it along with 2 x Twinmos 256mb sticks to activate dual memory.

The problem im having is that everything runs fine up untill i install the drivers for the nVIDIA nFORCE2 chipset . Once they are installed then the computer wont shut down. When i try and shut down right at the end of the shutdown process i get a blue screen (ERROR small memory dump) and the system just cycles back and starts up.

This only happens when i install the nFORCE2 Drivers , up untill that point it runs fine , Ive downloaded the latest bios and nFORCE2 drivers but i cant seem to see anything elsewhere on the net about this .

CAN ANYONE HELP !

Are you installing the Epox drivers, or the drivers from Nvidia? I understand that the IDE driver causes problems.

I installed the nFORCE2 Drivers 1st from the EPoX motherboard CD and it gave me the problem , so i tried deleting those drivers and downloading the drivers on there own from the nVIDIA nFORCE2 Website but still no fix.

My board has the latest bios also.

Something's amiss. My 8RDA+ had no shutdown issues with the nVidia 2.03's. By the way, the 2.03's don't have the capricious SW Performance IDE driver when installed on Win2000, only WinXP, so you're in the clear there.

If it were me, I would start over and see what happens. Check in your BIOS to ensure that ACPI Function is enabled before you start again (see manual page 4-16). Good luck! 🙂
