Windows 2000/Nero 5.5 Install Question??

I downloaded 5.5 but I am a bit confused about exactly how to go about installing it. With past Nero updates, their site recommended uninstalling the previous version and then installing the new version when using Win2K. I assume this kept 2 instances of Nero 5.xx from showing up in Add/Remove Programs. From what I am reading on the Nero site, I am supposed to install this as an update to what I already have which is 5.048??? Is this correct? Has anyone done this with Win2K yet??

Can I uninstall 5.048, install 5.5 and input the registration # I got when I bought 5.0?
 
Just installed 5.5 last night. The install program removed the previous copy and then installed the new one. I suppose the serial number was still in the registry, because it never asked for a number. Works great, I might add.
