Windows 2000 just flat won't show the wireless connection

At home, the wireless adapter in the client computer clearly and strongly receives the signal from the wireless router.

The adapter's software shows 96 to 100 % signal strength, and shows the correct wireless network name.

The Windows 2000 Pro has the correct workgroup name.

But the dang Windows 2000 just flat won't show the wireless connection. Have completely reinstalled the OS, still no luck.

What does this indicate? I don't know what to try & fix.

Does the security setting of the Adapter matckes the one in the Wireless Router/Access Point?
