If you want to develop with ASP, you pretty much have to use windows servers. True, chilisoft ASP is available with linux platforms but it wont connect to MS databases natively, making it totally useless for the single end user. Also, developing for PHP is much cleaner on a linux platform; windows php systems tend to have some compatibility issues from time to time and most PHP program scripts will not offer support to a windows server user.

I wont get into reliability issues but linux systems are commonly left up for months without need for reboot, I would be surprised to see a win web server be able to do the same.
