How do I disable the startup programs in windows 2000?. In windows 98 all you have to do is go to start -> run -> type in MSCONFIG but that doesn't work with windows 2000. I tried to go to start -> programs -> acessories -> system tools -> system information -> software environment -> startup programs, I can see the programs that start once you login windows but I couldn't figure out how to disable it, I've try properties and they don't have check box or anything that you can disable with. Is there anyway I can disable some of the programs?

Check your Start Up folder in the Start Menu.

Check your registry.

HKLM-software-microsoft-windowsnt-current version- Check all the Run folders for registry keys pertaining to start up apps.

You can copy MSCONFIG over to Win2K and use it with limited functionality.

You are probably better off using a more flexible and powerful program like StartUp Control Panel.
