I can't make a copy of ANYTHING. All I get is SCSI ASPI errors. I just updated to the new ASPI layer from Adaptec and it didn't make a bit of difference.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Does anyone have a fix?

Is it Windows 2000, Adaptec writer software, or my SCSI card? Everything works find in NT 4.0.

Brief system specs:

Adaptec 2930C SCSI card
Plextor 8/20 CDR
Windows 2000
Adaptec Easy CD-Creator Deluxe 4.02
New Adaptec 2930C SCSI drivers for Windows 2000

While I'm waiting I'm going to dig the coaster fragments out of my drywall.

i had the same problems also when i went to win2k.
my computer has a 2940u2w with a sony 8x4x40x scsi cdr.
never could get adaptec to work. any version. i tried them all.
but after i updated the aspi layer i was able to get nero to work.

my suggestion would be to try other software.

Thanks for the reply.

If that's the case I'm going to try CDRWIN, CD Clone, and Disc Juggler.

All of my burning software has crapped out on me as well. I'd normally use Adaptec, Nero, and CDRWin. I can only get Nero 5 to start, but only if I delete the wnaspi.dll file. Grrr.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having problems with Adaptec. It's good to know it's not something I screwed up this time.

I did some more testing last night.

Disc Juggler works great. No problems at all. In fact, I'd forgotten how nice this program is because I hadn't used it in so long.

CD Clone doesn't seem to work. When I start a copy it just camps out and says it's waiting for the CDR. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but after 5 minutes I got tired of waiting and promptly performed an uninstall.

I tried to install Nero but it said I should uninstall DirectCD first. I don't really want to do that so I'm going to skip Nero for now unless I need it. Because of everyone's testimonial I'm just going to assume that Nero works fine.

Now I just need to get out the vacuum to clean up all these CDR pieces on my carpet.

On the other hand, I have an all SCSI system that uses a Tekram host with two LVD hard drives, a SCSI DVD & CDR, tape and Zip drive and have had not one problem with Windows 2000 and burning CD's using Creator 4.0 at speeds up to 8X. Maybe it is the Adaptec or the drivers that Windows 2000 installs for the host. By the way, I have not installed or updated any drivers other than what installs natively with Win 2000.
